Governor Greg Abbott Discusses Legislative Victories at Town Hall in Tyler, Texas

TYLER, TX – Tonight, Governor Greg Abbott participated in a town hall in Tyler, Texas which was hosted by Nexstar and aired around the state of Texas. The focus of the town hall was the legislative accomplishments from the 86th Texas Legislative Session. Governor Abbott discussed the promises made to tackle the toughest issues facing our state – like sky-rocketing property taxes and school finance reform – and the keeping of those promises.

Republican Party of Texas Chairman James Dickey commented:

“Governor Greg Abbott focused on victories we had during the 86th Legislative Session. Victories like House Bill 3 which not only puts a cap on property taxes, it also provides $5 billion in tax relief during the first biennium. This bill, coupled with Senate Bill 2 delivered transformational generational school finance reform. These are real, delivered results which benefit all Texans.

“While there was tangible progress during this Session, there is still much work to do in Texas. That is why we have our eyes on 2020 where we will deliver major Republican wins up and down the ballot.”
