High School Republicans of Texas Win Two National Awards

The Republican Party of Texas’ newest auxiliary, won two awards in its first year of existence. The state federation won the award for “Outstanding TAR Website in the Nation” for developing a website that “is a source of valuable information for active TARS in the state,” www.hsrtx.org. And the Alamo Heights High School Young Republicans, led by club and State Chairman Connor Pfeiffer, received the national “Rising Star Club Award” for their work this past year.

This award comes after a successful first year for the club, which was very active with the Bexar County Republican Party and on campus. The club’s activities included volunteering at the Bexar County Republican Party’s annual Chairman’s BBQ, hosting prominent speakers such as Speaker of the Texas House Joe Straus, then-Chairman of the Texas Railroad Commission Elizabeth Ames Jones, State Senator Jeff Wentworth and Senate District 25 Republican Nominee Donna Campbell, co-hosting a student-run debate with the Young Democrats in the spring, volunteering for the Wounded Warrior Project and donating a new U.S. flag to the school.

“I am thrilled by HSRT’s showing at the national level with these two awards and look forward to our continued success working with fellow teenage republicans across Texas and around the country. This election will be one of the most important in a generation and High School Republicans of Texas’ involvement in races across the state will be a valuable asset to the state party and local campaigns and I look forward to HSRT’s continued success this coming school year,” said State Chairman Connor Pfeiffer.
