Dear Texas Republican,

As we keep you up to speed about our RPT priority legislative items, we want to bring your attention to the next stage of action for the Voter ID bill. Two weeks ago, the Texas Senate passed SB14 and now the House will be considering the same bill which is sponsored by Rep. Patricia Harless (R-Spring).

Rep. Dennis Bonnen (R-Angleton), Chairman of the House Select Committee on Voter ID and Vote Fraud has announced that SB14 will be heard in committee on Tuesday, March 1. Testimony will begin with invited guests, beginning at 8:00am. After invited testimony is finished, the public testimony will begin. The committee will recess at 10:00am for business on the house floor, but will announce that day at what time they will reconvene in the afternoon.

If you are able to be in Austin to support the legislation, we encourage you to attend the hearing. Many Republican supporters of the bill will be in attendance and are wearing red shirts to make their presence known to the committee. Even if you do not wish to offer public testimony, you can have your voice heard just by showing up and being counted as a concerned Republican who fully supports this important legislation!

Committee hearings are also broadcast live via the House website. If you can’t make it to Austin, you can follow the process by clicking here to watch the video broadcast on your computer.
