AUSTIN, TX – Republican Party of Texas General Counsel Chris Gober of The Gober Group PLLC has announced his intent to resign from his position following the conclusion of the Party’s 2nd Quarterly Meeting on June 8, 2019. Gober was initially nominated to the role by Chairman James Dickey and confirmed by the State Republican Executive Committee on June 6, 2017. He was once again nominated and confirmed to the position in June 2018 following Chairman Dickey’s re-election as Chairman.

“My professional career has been devoted to electing Republicans to public office, so it has been an honor to advance that mission as General Counsel to the Republican Party of Texas, said Gober. “While it is an opportune time for me to relinquish the role of General Counsel to someone else, it is my intention to continue my legal representation of the State Party for key projects. I want to thank Chairman Dickey and the member of the State Republican Executive Committee for entrusting me in this role.”

“On behalf of the Republican the Party of Texas, I want to thank Chris for his tremendous contributions to advancing our mission,” says Republican Party of Texas Chairman James Dickey. “Not only has his expertise and responsiveness have been instrumental to our operations, but Chris has donated $155,000 worth of legal services to the Republican Party of Texas in just two years. He is a true servant to the Republican Party, and I look forward to his continued service to the Party in a new capacity.”

Following Chris Gober’s resignation, Chairman James Dickey nominated Assistant General Counsel Wade Emmert to serve and General Counsel. Wade was unanimously approved by the SREC.

Chairman James Dickey commented:

“We are proud to have Wade Emmert’s expertise and wisdom in the position as General Counsel for the Party. He has been active in the party in Dallas and beyond for years. We thank him for his service and look forward to working with him for victories in 2020 and beyond!”
