The Republican Party of Texas Chairman, Steve Munisteri, announced yesterday that George P. Bush has agreed to be the Deputy Finance Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas. Chairman Munisteri stated, "The entire leadership of the RPT is very excited that George P. Bush has agreed to join the state wide leadership team of the RPT as Deputy Finance Chair. The Bush name is well known to Texas Republicans and the Bush family has long served the Republican Party. George P. has been carrying on this tradition as the co-founder of Maverick PAC and has a history of outreach to the Hispanic community. His joining the RPT team will be a great assistance to us in expanding our donor base which in turn will provide the party with additional resources to support our candidates and build the party's infrastructure. Moreover, George P. is a relatively young, dynamic, intelligent, and articulate leader, who I am confident will be part of the new generation of Texas Republican leadership. I look forward to him taking an active and significant role with RPT."

George P. Bush is the eldest of three children of former Florida governor Jeb Bush; the nephew of the 43rd President of the United States, George W. Bush; and the grandson of the 41st President of the United States, George H.W. Bush. George P.'s political activities commenced with the numerous campaigns of his grandfather, President George H.W. Bush, at the national level. He was also involved with three gubernatorial races in Florida in support of his father, Governor Jeb Bush, and served as a surrogate speaker for his uncle, President George W. Bush, in connection with both of his campaigns for President.

Bush co-founded Pennybacker Capital, which invests in and operates middle market multifamily, retail, office, and industrial assets in sustainable growth markets with a primary focus on the four major Texas markets. Prior to joining Pennybacker Capital, Bush practiced corporate and securities law with Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, LLP, conducting legal due diligence and preparing transaction documents in connection with mergers, acquisitions, offerings, credit facilities, securities filings, and divestitures for private equity clients and publicly held corporations. While practicing in the Investment Funds Group at Akin Gump, he was selected as one of Texas Monthly's Rising Stars (2005). After graduating from University of Texas School of Law, he married a law school classmate, Amanda Williams, a media law attorney at Jackson Walker LLP. He then clerked for the Honorable Sidney A. Fitzwater, a US District Judge for the Northern District of Texas.He is a member of the Texas Bar Association, ICSC,and CCIM.

Bush, a US Naval Reserves Intelligence Officer, recently returned from a mobilization in Afghanistan where he served under the Special Operations Command in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He has also served his country as a member of several diplomacy missions, including Nicaragua for the second peaceful transfer of power in that country (2002), Brazil for the Pan-American Games in 2007, and Saudi Arabia on a congressional delegation during the "Arab Spring" of 2011.

He has been involved with a variety of nonprofit organizations, He co-founder and is on the board of directors of Hispanic Republicans of Texas, a political action committee whose goal is to elect Republican political candidates of Hispanic heritage to office in Texas. His efforts in non-profit work range from leading a $30 million capital campaign for Big Brothers Big Sisters in North Texas to serving as Chairman of the Dallas/Fort Worth Celebration of Reading, which raises $1 million annually for the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy.Bush is currently spearheading an effort to expand upon the presence of a highly successful Dallas-based charter school, Uplift Education, in Tarrant County.
