Republican Party of Texas Statement on HB 1
- James Wesolek
Austin, TX, Release: November 16, 2023 — For Immediate Release
The Texas House has scheduled debate on HB 1, a school choice bill, for the first time in over a decade. Republican Party of Texas Chairman Matt Rinaldi released the following statement:
“Governor Abbott has been relentless in his efforts to bring school choice to Texas. After multiple attempts to address the issue have failed in the House, Governor Abbott has forced them to tackle school choice head-on. Poll after poll shows a majority of Texans, across party lines, support school choice so parents can decide the best school for their child. We join the chorus of Governor Abbott, Governor Perry, and Senator Ted Cruz in asking the Texas House to stand with parents.”
