Resolution in Support of President Donald Trump, Congressman Brandon Gill, and the Constitutional Governance of our Republic
- Jordan Leighty
WHEREAS, the United States Constitution grants Congress the authority to impeach federal judges who engage in actions that undermine the integrity of the judiciary and exceed their Constitutional authority; and
WHEREAS, U.S. District Judge James Boasberg compromised national security and the rule of law when he recently issued a ruling seeking to obstruct President Donald Trump and the Executive Branch’s lawful authority to enforce immigration laws and remove dangerous criminals from the United States; and
WHEREAS, Judge Boasberg’s decision specifically blocked the deportation of known members of the violent Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, thereby allowing dangerous criminals to remain within U.S. borders despite clear evidence of their threat to public safety; and
WHEREAS, Congressman Brandon Gill (CD 26) has introduced articles of impeachment (House Resolution 229) against Judge Boasberg to uphold the Constitutional Separation of Powers and to hold the judiciary accountable for overreach; and
WHEREAS, Chief Justice John Roberts has publicly dismissed and criticized calls for judicial accountability, inappropriately intervening in a matter that is Constitutionally reserved for the Legislative Branch; and
WHEREAS, statements from Chief Justice Roberts reflect a broader pattern of judicial elitism that insulates federal judges from the consequences of their actions, thereby undermining the foundational principle that no branch of government is beyond reproach; now
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Republican Party of Texas fully supports President Donald Trump and his efforts to use his authority under the Constitution and under federal law to defend our nation’s borders from illegal entry and to remove illegal aliens present in the United States; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Republican Party of Texas fully supports Congressman Brandon Gill’s resolution to impeach Judge James Boasberg and urges all members of Congress to support Congressman Gill’s effort to defend Constitutional governance; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Republican Party of Texas strongly condemns Chief Justice John Roberts for his inappropriate and ill-advised defense of judicial overreach and his failure to recognize the authority of the duly-elected Congress and its members; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution shall be transmitted to Congressman Brandon Gill and all other members of the Texas Congressional Delegation to demonstrate our unwavering support for Constitutional principles and the rule of law.
