Resolution Calling for Withholding Endorsements Until the Censure Process Is Complete

WHEREAS, President Donald J. Trump holds significant influence, and his endorsements carry substantial weight among voters; and
WHEREAS, during the 2024 Texas Republican Primary Election, President Trump was undefeated in his endorsements of America First congressional candidates; and
WHEREAS, during the 2024 Texas Republican Primary Election, President Trump was undefeated in his endorsements of America First candidates for the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals; and
WHEREAS, during the 2024 Texas Republican Primary Election, President Trump endorsed America First Texas House candidates like Helen Kerwin, Brent Money, Mike Olcott, Alan Schoolcraft, John Smithee, and Wes Virdell; and
WHEREAS, the 2024 Texas Republican Convention delegates adopted the Party Platform and Legislative Priorities of the Republican Party of Texas; and
WHEREAS, under Republican Party of Texas Rule No. 44, an Officeholder may be censured for taking three or more actions during the Officeholder’s current term in opposition to the core principles of the Republican Party of Texas defined in the Preamble of the Party Platform as described in Rule No. 43A or to the Legislative Priorities adopted at the most recent State Convention as described in Rule No. 34(c); now
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Republican Party of Texas urges President Trump to withhold his endorsement of Texas Officeholders until after November 8, 2025, by which date the Rule No. 44 censure process would be complete and any penalties would have been imposed.
