David Covey
David Covey, Vice Chair of the Republican Party of Texas, brings a lifetime of conservative activism and proven grassroots leadership to the state’s highest party office. A homeschool graduate who came of age in Southeast Texas, David has spent years training Republican activists across the state on how to engage local government, win elections, and hold their representatives accountable. He served as Orange County Republican Party Chairman and as President of the Texas Republican County Chairmen’s Association (TRCCA), building relationships with party leaders in every corner of Texas. His SREC service representing Senate District 3 deepened his understanding of the party’s structure and the grassroots energy needed to keep Texas red.
David’s commitment to conservative principles extends beyond party politics. He is the author of Hometown Politics, a guide to civic engagement and local government that reflects his belief that lasting change begins at the precinct level. He has challenged entrenched establishment figures when principle demanded it, earning the endorsement of President Donald Trump and the trust of grassroots conservatives who wanted a fighter in their corner. His 2024 primary challenge to House Speaker Dade Phelan put the entire state on notice that Texas Republicans expect their elected officials to govern by the platform they run on.
At home, David is a devoted husband and father who understands that strong families are the foundation of a strong Texas. As Vice Chair, David is focused on closing the Republican primary, strengthening the party’s organizational infrastructure, and ensuring that every county chair and precinct chair has the tools and support they need to deliver victories up and down the ballot.
