On October 11, the SREC will hold a special meeting in Austin to consider Rule No. 44 censures received from county parties across the state. For too long, open primaries have allowed Democrats and progressive activists to manipulate Republican outcomes, weakening our candidates and diluting our values. With this amendment, the Republican Party of Texas sends a clear message: we will not allow our nomination process to be hijacked.

The Republican Party of Texas is grateful to the leaders who fought for this important step in improving education — Governor Greg Abbott, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, and Speaker Dustin Burrows. Their strong support for school choice this session made a real difference. We also want to thank President Donald Trump for leading the charge to shut down the U.S. Department of Education and give power back to the states. Most of all, we’re incredibly thankful for our grassroots — the hardworking Texans who stood up, spoke out, and made this happen. We couldn’t have done it without you!
